10 things that happened when a person is sentenced to death in the U.S.A

10 things that happened when a person is sentenced to death in the U.S.A When your sentence to death in the U.S.A. the following will take place: The jury or the judge finds you guilty of murder Next come the penalty phase of either life or a sentence of death. Next comes the motion for new trial and the pronouncement of sentence. Your then sent to prison in which a special section is for death- row prisoners. Your given a packet by the court in which you must file a notice of appeal and request for the appointment of counsel on appeal. This process is in case your attorney forgets to file the notice. Next comes the waiting game for the court to appoint you an attorney for your first appeal, In some cases the wait can be 10 years but don’t worry an automatic stay is in place, you won’t be executed just yet. The attorney makes contact with you, and he goes over the process which can take from six months to two years for your first appeal to make its way through the process, then it can ...

Reasons Why hanging is no longer used as a form of death penalty

Reasons Why hanging is no longer used as a form of death penalty It's considered inhumane. The irony is that when it's done right, and breaks the neck with a long drop, it's instant death. The gas chamber, lethal injection and certainly the electric chair are far worse. I'd run to the gallows if it was a choice between a long drop hanging or the electric chair; the latter is horrific. The eighth amendment of the constitution talks about wanting no cruel and unusual punishment. Yet, frequently, the USA draws out an execution, and uses methods that they claim to be quick and humane, that are anything but. First let's talk about the UK (ironically as their old methods were one of the reasons for writing this line into the constitution) and their method and thinking on executions before it was stopped. A person has a trial, is found guilty and sentenced to death. They had the right to appeal. If the appeals failed the execution took place. (So far same as the US). Howev...

The process of execution for inmates in Texas

The process of execution for inmates in Texas   The process is simple.. they move off death row tier, taken to death watch cell 24 hours before their execution.. they eat regular dinner and given a meal menu.: to fill out what they want.. the prison cook will prepare his last meal that he want.. the next morning and probably most of the of it he spend with his lawyer, clergymen, visit with family and friends.. eat his last meal.. his lawyer been on phone calling courts and waiting for a stay, the condemned will eat lunch and final meal , he will change out his prison clothes, he will put a diaper on and fresh clean prison whites on.. he and the clergyman with the death squad, will take those 13 steps to the death chamber, the clergyman will give on last prayer or lasts rites… and the condemned and death squad will walk into chamber, the guards will strap him / her to the gurney, then the technicians will start finding veins and inserting the tubes.. the warden is already in th...

Reasons Why nitrogen isn't used as a method of execution

Reasons Why nitrogen isn't used as a method of execution Nitrogen asphyxiation is one of the most benign deaths imaginable. It’s not the nitrogen that kills, but the fact that it replaces oxygen. You die of asphyxiation, but not asphyxiation like when someone pulls a plastic bag over your head. That’s with built-up of CO2 in your system, which is a horrible feeling. No, with nitrogen you exhale all the CO2, so it’s like gently falling asleep. Nitrogen is not some special drug that needs to be produced by the pharmaceutical industry. On the contrary, it’s readily available in the air we breath. The prison can itself install a small nitrogen production unit, if no gas dealer would want to deliver it. It can be administered through a face mask without any risk for personnel. If it escapes it just mingles with the air. It is not toxic too people (we breath it all the time). So no need for a gas chamber. Just make sure the room is not too small and is ventilated. It’s fast. 10–15 minute...

The time all inmates get up in the morning, both jail and in prison

The time all inmates get up in the morning, both jail and in prison Prison is quite different than jail. In that prison you have more “freedom” for lack of a better term. In my experience and also here in the fantastic Commonwealth of Kentucky, unless you are in a Class D facility you are going to listen to non stop loud television and, depending on if you're in a little girl jail or the little boy jail, you have these sleeping routines that ensure you if you're hoping for some quiet so you can sleep your sentence away… HAHA!! Forget it! Aint none of that happening. Class D facilities are for your state inmates, or the ones who have been prosecuted and have received their sentences. Ah yes, here in this amazing Bluegrass state if you get less than 10 years then you are serving most if not all your time in a county jail. Which is absolute ludacris. So now not only do I get the pleasure of working my rear end off in all weather conditions while employed as one of the road crew fo...

Reasons why most lethal injections occur at night

Reasons why most lethal injections occur at night It seems that most lethal injections occur in the middle of the night. Is there a reason for that? For instance, in my state of Missouri, we always execute at midnight. The reason for this is that the state is given a 24 hour window in which to execute any prisoner. The execution must happen within that window. In an abundance of caution, they do that execution immediately at the beginning of the window, in case something happens which causes a delay. OP isn't wrong. At least not entirely. Usually the condemned expires between 7 and 10 PM just because of how long everything takes. I'm kind of hoping that someone with a bit more insight might show up because I am interested to know why they start when they do, and not early in the morning, which would make more sense to me.  Continue reading

The Execution of Irma Grese

The Execution of Irma Grese  Irma Grese, often referred to as the "Hyena of Auschwitz," remains one of the most infamous female figures associated with Nazi war crimes. Her name is synonymous with the brutality that characterized the Holocaust, and her execution marked the end of a young life steeped in unimaginable cruelty. Early Life and Rise to Power Born on October 7, 1923, in Wrechen, Germany, Irma Grese grew up in a tumultuous household. Her mother committed suicide when Grese was only 13 years old, an event that had a profound impact on her. At 15, she left school and initially worked as a nurse, but soon became captivated by Nazi ideology. By the age of 19, she had joined the SS and was assigned to work at the Ravensbrück concentration camp as a guard. Her rise within the ranks of the SS was swift and alarming. Grese was later transferred to Auschwitz-Birkenau, one of the most notorious concentration camps, where she quickly gained a reputation for her extreme sadism ...
