Acid bath murderer John George Haig

Acid bath murderer John George Haig Hehehe Acid Bath right? Well John George Haigh was a British serial killer *steers unsuspiciously* active in the late 40's. He used to dispose of his victims' bodies by burning them in sulphuric acid, according to Forensic magazine. Haigh was convinced he was getting away with murder, literally, because he mistakenly thought that without a body there was no crime. His arrogance is what ultimately got him caught when he led police to the remains of his sixth and final victim, 69-year-old Olive Durand-Deacon. 1947 he met a couple named Henderson during a property deal. In February 1948 he took them, one at a time, from the Metropole Hotel, Brighton, where they lived, to his new workshop in Crawley. Here he shot them and popped them in the now familiar drum full of acid. He paid their hotel bill and removed all their valuables. By February 1949 Haigh had been living in the Onslow Court Hotel, South Kensington, for four years. One of the other re...

His bones were ground up and scattered to the winds to make sure nothing was left of him. A single tooth is all that remains of the young scholar and nationalist politician whose life and career were cut short in a dark struggle for leadership and control of resources in the central African country. After resting in his native village, the coffin of the former Belgian Congo's first post-independence prime minister pursued its memorial pilgrimage further. It was here in this town that Lumumba was executed in January 1961, four months after the end of his brief term in office. "Shilatembo is a place of drama, as his Excellency the Prime Ministe...

Killing the Devil’: 52 years after murdering young men, Candy Man among Texas’ worst serial killers

‘Killing the Devil’: 52 years after murdering young men, Candy Man among Texas’ worst serial killers Jeffrey Konen was 18 years old when he disappeared from the Houston Heights area on Sept. 25, 1970. He had been hitchhiking from the University of Texas to his parent’s home in Houston. Three years later, his naked body was found buried at High Island Beach under a large boulder. His hands and feet were bound, and he was wrapped in plastic and covered in a layer of lime. He died of asphyxiation after a cloth was placed in his mouth, and he was manually strangled. Konen was the first known victim of the infamous Candy Man serial killer. This Candy Man didn’t have a hook for a hand and a swarm of bees at his disposal like in Bernard Rose’s 1992 horror classic with the same name. Instead, the real-life killer, named Dean Arnold Corll, was much more terrifying. Corll was given the nickname for being known as the “pleasant, smiling candy man of the Heights,” who would give candy t...

Berdella is believed to have started killing in July 1984

Berdella is believed to have started killing in July 1984 He drugged one of his friends, prostitute Jerry Howell, and started keeping him in his basement, torturing and repeatedly raping him over a night before fatally asphyxiating him. In April 1985, another friend of Berdella, Robert Sheldon, came to stay with him for a few days and was drugged and held captive in the basement like Howell before him. At first, Berdella changed his mind about "keeping" him and took him to a doctor to have his injuries treated. Not long afterwards, he changed his mind and returned Sheldon to his basement. On April 15, a workman came to do some work on Berdella's home, leading Berdella to fatally suffocate Sheldon so he would not be heard. The following June, Berdella found Mark Wallace, who had helped him with yard work, hiding in his tool shed to seek shelter from a storm. Berdella invited him inside his house, drugged him and started holding him captive. After hours of ...

Inside The Vicious Crimes Of Child Murderer Mary Bell

Inside The Vicious Crimes Of Child Murderer Mary Bell Serial killer Mary Bell was 11 years old when she was sentenced to life in prison for killing two toddlers in 1968 — but she now lives in anonymity after being freed just 12 years later.... Between May and July 1968, Mary Bell attempted to strangle at least five children and killed another two in her neighborhood in Newcastle, England. Just 10 years old when she committed her first murder by choking a four-year-old toddler to death, Bell could hardly contain her joy. The day after the crime, she and a friend broke into and vandalized a local nursery, leaving behind four notes that admitted to the crime and suggested she wanted to kill again, including one that read, "I murder SO That I may come back." But even though the police concluded that Bell and her 13-year-old friend Norma had left the messages, they thought it was a prank and merely gave the girls a warning, leaving Bell free to kill again — and her second mu...

A river pirate who killed at least 6 people, including stabbed the victim in the eye, is facing his execution in China in 1900 A river pirate is a pirate who operates along a river. Any questions as to the success of his covert mission to subdue one of history’s most notorious pirates were answe...

The worst prisoners in prison

They were treated very differently, primarily due to the nature of their crimes — Jared Fogle, the Subway diet guy, was in jail for crimes related to children. Whereas Bill Cosby was a serial assaulter of grown women. Cosby was treated well by both inmates and guards, being a popular figure. He was a legendary entertainer, many inmates grew up on his work. His crimes weren’t seen by other prisoners as being on the same level of depravity as Fogle’s, thus he was given extra food by his prison buddies. He reportedly joked around with them and charmed even the guards charged to overlook them. Fogle, by contrast, was despised by inmates. He got beaten by them on more than one occasion. Beyond his gimmick — the “Subway diet” where he claimed to have lost a ton of weight by only eating sandwiches from the sandwich chain Subway — he just wasn’t a very charming person. Besides, Cosby actually was quite open about his use of roofies. He joked, openly, about drugging women and getting th...

The Serial Killer Who Made Soaps and Cakes Out of the People She Killed

The Serial Killer Who Made Soaps and Cakes Out of the People She Killed Italian serial killer Leonard Cianculli turned the bodies of her victims into cupcakes and offered them to guests. Better known as the Soap-Maker of Correggio (Italian: la Saponificatrice di Correggio), she murdered three women in the town of Correggio, Reggio Emilia, in 1939 and 1940, and turned their bodies into soap (using caustic soda) and teacakes. “She ended up in the pot, like the other two … her flesh was fat and white, when it had melted I added a bottle of cologne, and after a long time on the boil, I was able to make some most acceptable creamy soap. I gave bars to neighbors and acquaintances. The cakes, too, were better: That woman was really sweet.” However, Leonarda did not act on the fortunetellers advice right away. It wasn't until 1939 when her son told her that he was going to join the military that Leonarda decided she had no other choice but to follow the advice of the fortunetelle...

When Jim Carrey once attempted to stay in Room 217 of Colorado's ... When Jim Carrey once attempted to stay in Room 217 of Colorado's Stanley Hotel, he only lasted three hours before fleeing. The room's legacy of horror began in 1974, when novelist Stephen King was inspired to write "The Shining" after a nightmarish stay there. To this day, visitors say that the Stanley and especially Room 217 are just as haunted as "The Shining" would have you believe. Step inside the haunting halls of the Shining hotel and discover the real-life horror — In October 1974, ascendant horror writer Stephen King and his wife spent a night at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado, at the foot of the Rockies. With the winter barrage of snow and cold looming, the hotel was about to close for the season, leaving King and his wife as its sole guests. After King ate in a grand yet empty dining room — with the chairs up on every table except his own — and walked thr...
