The bridge collapsed due to it not being able to support the weight of over 10,000 people. The bridge was overcrowded because of people celebrating the one of two festivities that were held on that day. As of result of this collapse, 32 people were killed and over 1,000 people were injured. Today, the bridge still stands and no tragic accident has occurred since.
