A pregnant woman, teenagers and family members… these were some of Yoshio Kodaira’s victims. Kodaira was born in Tochigi, Japan in 1905. He was the son of a violent alcoholic, and as well as suffering from a severe stutter, was an underwhelming performer at school. His teacher described him as “inattentive and listless”, and was reputed to get into fights on a daily basis. When he left school, he went to work for a Tokyo metalworks and from there, drifted through a number of blue collar jobs, none lasting more than a few months at a time. At the age of 18, he got a woman pregnant, but had no intention of sticking around to fulfil his paternal duties. No, instead he decided to join the Imperial Japanese Navy and was deployed to China where he took part in the Jinan Incident. It was there that he started his gruesome slaughter started. Gilles de Rais is one of my favorite people ever simply because of how strange his life was. He was a French aristocrat and war-hero of the early 15th century. Remarkably, he was a companion-in-arms of St. Joan of Arc, and had fought alongside her, both in Paris as well as during the legendary Siege of Orléans. He saved Joan of Arc’s live by pulling her from battle after she was shot with an arrow. He remained infatuated with her. However, after Joan of Arc was burnt at the stake for witchcraft, de Rais left his position in the army and returned home to live a life of relative comfort. This was when his downfall began. Bereft of the excitement and glory of the battlefield, yet still craving the action and violence of war, de Rais’ downward spiral began when he started spending his money prodigiously in frivolous pursuits. This is the very last photo of Geraldine Largay before she vanished in the Appalachian mountains in 2013. While hiking, she inadvertently strayed from the designated trail, leading to her becoming disoriented and lost. Despite her attempts to contact her husband via text message, none of them were successfully sent due to the poor cell phone reception in the area. “in somm trouble,” she texted on July 22, 2013, the day she left the trail. “Got off trail to go to br. now lost. can you call AMC to c if a trail maintainer can help me. somewhere north of woods road.” When she didn't rendezvous with her husband on July 24, 2013, he notified the authorities of her disappearance, prompting the initiation of a sizable search effort. A 14-year-old boy has died and four others were hospitalized after this man attacked them with a Samurai-style blade in London earlier today. Police were called to reports of a car crashing into a house and people being stabbed in Hainault at about 07:00 BST. The boy was taken to hospital where he later died. Four other people, including two police officers, were injured before the suspect - who had been leaping over people's garden fences - was cornered and Tasered in a front garden. The 36-year-old man was arrested and the Metropolitan Police said he was in hospital being treated for injuries sustained when the vehicle he was in crashed into the house. His condition meant he had not yet been interviewed, police added. Assistant Commissioner Louisa Rolfe said their investigations had not discovered any previous contact between the man and the police.
