In his final words, read to reporters after his death, the 57-year-old inmate apologized "for all the pain and suffering I have caused." He also told his mother he was sorry for his crimes: "Having to deal with your son being called a monster is terrible. I'm so very sorry. I never wanted this to be my life. You don't wake up one day and decide to become a serial killer." Bowles' final meal consisted of three cheeseburgers and a side of french fries, according to News 4 in Jacksonville. Mutilated remains of a woman found in barrel KOCHI: The mutilated remains of a woman was found inside an abandoned barrel that was filled with concrete at Panangad on Monday morning. Police said that the remains were of a 30-year-old woman. They recovered a waist chain, long hair strands and dress from the barrel. They also recovered a skull and a few bones besides two invalid Rs 500 notes and one Rs 100 note. It is also suspected that the body is more than a year old. The blue barrel, belonging to an Alappuzha-based private company, was found in an open spot. One of the most painful chapters in Southeast Texas history moved closer to resolution on Friday when a judge in Jasper County signed the execution warrant for the last of three white men convicted in the dragging death of a black man on a country road there 20 years ago. John William King, whose latest round of appeals was denied by the U.S. Supreme Court in late October, now faces execution by injection on April 24. State District Judge Craig Mixson signed the order. The execution warrant must be delivered to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice by Jasper County Sheriff Mitchel Newman before the date is officially scheduled. King, a 44-year-old Georgia native, was convicted of capital murder for the racist slaying of of James Byrd Jr. in June 1998. Kentucky woman’s remains found naked, bound in shallow grave LANCASTER, Ky. — Police have released more details about how they found the remains of a missing Kentucky woman. Police testified in court Monday that 23-year-old Savannah Spurlock’s naked remains were found buried in a shallow grave and wrapped in a rug and garbage bags, with her feet bound. The details were presented during a preliminary hearing for 23-year-old David Sparks, who is charged with abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence after Spurlock’s remains were found on property connected to his family. News outlets report the case was sent to a grand jury after the hearing. Spurlock was last seen in January leaving a Lexington bar with three men, including Sparks.
