Early in the 1970’s, on November, a man had purchased a ticket at Northwest Orient Airline counter at Portland International Airport in Oregon.
This man was D.B. Cooper
He sat towards the back of the plane, and ordered a drink.
When the stewardess brought him a drink, he handed a note to her which she ignored at first. Not long after he told her to read the note, and that he has a bomb.
Not wanting to make any wrong moves, she opened the letter which explained how he wants her to sit beside him, to which she complies.
He shows her his briefcase which contained cylinders and wires, and demands for $200,000, two parachutes and a fuel tanker waiting for them at their destination for refuelling.
Although making a daring demand, and equipped with an explosive, some of the air hostesses explained that he was rather polite and calm.
The didn’t land for another 30 minutes, delaying the arrival as the FBI gathered the cash. When they landed, the FBI provided what he demanded. The cash, parachutes and fuel for the plane.
The plane took off once again, this time however with 4 crew members that were held in the cockpit as ordered by Cooper, and Cooper himself.
After some time, the warning lights lit up indicating the door had been opened. Upon inspection, Cooper, the cash and the parachutes were gone. He had obviously jumped.
Where he landed is a mystery, and whether he died or managed to escape is an even bigger mystery as there were no traces of him after that flight. Continue reading
