The death of Elisa Lam.

Though the footage isn’t exactly horrifying, but along with the entire story it’s quite chilling. I’ll just be writing a condensed version of the case.

Elisa Lam was a 21-year-old Canadian woman who was on a trip to South California and was staying at the Hotel Cecil in downtown Los Angeles. She was a simple girl who loved travelling and blogging.

On January 31st, 2013, the day she was supposed to check out of her hotel, the hotel authorities realised Elisa was missing. The LAPD was involved in the search.

The last time Elisa was seen, on the day of her disappearance, was recorded by the hotel’s elevator’s security camera. The LAPD released this video

prior to the discovery of the body.

In the footage, Elisa is seen exiting and re-entering the elevator, talking and gesturing in the hallway outside, and sometimes seeming to hide within the elevator, which itself appears to be malfunctioning.

A few days after her disappearance, hotel residents complained about the water in the taps being brown and smelling like something was rotting. When the maintenance workers went to investigate the 1000 gallon water tanks, they found Elisa’s naked body floating in it. Her clothes were also thrown into the tank. Note that it was physically very hard for someone like Elisa to open the lid of the tank, and only hotel staff had access to the roof. There were no marks whatsoever of any attack on her body.

To this day, it is unknown what the cause of her death was. The footage of the elevator raises a several number of questions. Nobody has been able to explain the actual reason behind her abnormal behaviour. It is also peculiar how the elevator doors donot shut for nearly three minutes but shut the moment Elisa leaves. Some believe she was under the influence of drugs. Many believe her bipolar disorder was involved. Some believe it is a case of paranormal activity, and others believe it could be a murder case.

This is an extremely widely reported case and it is yet to be solved.

Joanna Szydłowska traded her bread to another prisoner for a camera. She was one of 74 Polish women subjected to cruel experiments, including unnecessary surgeries. Doctors cut open some women's legs and intentionally infected them to try to simulate battlefield wounds. Some of the women were given no medication when they became desperately ill. Ravensbrück was liberated on this day in 1945 after most prisoners had been evacuated from the camp. Some of the experimentation victims testified at trials after the war.
