If someone on death row died before execution, here is what will happen
They die?
It happens fairly frequently. Suicide is common among condemned people… As are other diseases - likely caused to some extent by confinement, stress, and poor nutrition.
These days, for the most part, when people die they’re left alone to be dead. Usually, their remains are disposed of in a somewhat considerate manner.
In the past, humans did bizarro s—t like, exhume the deceased and put their corpses on trial or on public display, or dismember them as a warning to others…. But…. that’s somewhat less common these days.
There have been instances, where the condemned had a heart attack on the way to the death chamber. The man was treated and sent back to death row, about 2 days later, and then he was executed the next night. He would have died had he not been revived. I thought that was stupid!! Saving a life, so the state could have their pound of flesh.
Lonnie Franklin the famous serial killer in Los Angeles was sent to San Quentin death- row and was found dead in his cell autopsy showed death by natural causes. The body was sent to the morgue if the family doesn’t claim the body then the inmate will be cremated and put in a box and buried in the prison cemetery. In short the prison has you fill out all the paperwork and the prison will dispose of your possessions and body. I’ve seen someone die at 8 AM cell cleaned out and a new inmate in the cell by dinner time. Continue reading
