America’s National Parks are home to some of the most gorgeous sights in the world. Many people seek solace in the calm serenity offered by getting in touch with nature. While these locations are beautiful, reports of disappearances within the parks offer dark and chilling mysteries. What’s even more perplexing is that in many cases, the individuals who go missing are experienced in the outdoors.

He went missing on day 6 of an 8 day trip. Morgan was a college student from Cody, Wyoming who was described as an experienced outdoorsman and excellent swimmer. According to park officials[1], Morgan went missing on Tuesday, June 2nd and was never seen again. He was last seen at about 4:00 PM that day and was reported missing later the same day at 8:00 PM. It’s also reported that he had said something to the lead guide on the trip about taking a break the day he went missing. The group was near a cliff when the lead guide turned to speak with a client and when he turned back to Morgan, only moments later, he was gone without a trace. For six days after his disappearance, park rangers searched by land and air at his last known location with no evidence of where Morgan may have gone. No clues, no evidence, nothing. It seems like he just vanished into thin air.
Authorities can only speculate at this point about what really happened that day. Did he fall off the cliff or wander into the wilderness? Both of these seem unlikely. Searchers said of Morgan, “He definitely has the skills and ability to perform the job and be a person we have a high likelihood to find.[2]”
Sadly, Morgan has not been found. This is one of many cases of individuals disappearing from the National Parks with little or no evidence as to where they went. Search parties are left puzzled and frustrated, their efforts proving fruitless. What is happening to these people?. Continue reading
