You’ve probably never heard of him, so let me tell you about him.
His name is Robert “Bob” Chemney, and he was born in Canada before moving to America in the 60s. He lived in Oakland, when i was still living in San Francisco i’ve knew him from work and we were friends, he would always go to this park in Vallejo to eat donuts, he told me the city represented his “True Self”. He was a charismatic man, but he never had that many friends. He was great at conversations and could make just about anything interesting, so it was a bit surprising to see him not interact with that many people/
I’ve visited his house multiple times, but he told me that i cannot enter his basement nor his bedroom and always kept them locked, however when i took him home after he drank he told me to take him to his bedroom. I didnt look around, but i saw a book, the book had the exact same symbol the zodiac killer had used.
He also never wanted to talk about his life in Canada, and said he was “glad to leave it behind him”. This likely hints at a troubled childhood
After i moved to Delhi for college, we didn’t talk for a while. I came back to america in the 90s and managed to reconnect, he was the same charismatic man. We talked about our life, what happened since i left. However, something about him just wasn’t right. He seemed completely obsessed over Valhalla and norse mythology. It wasn’t just an interest, it was something he tried to bring into everything. But i never took much thought into it, he also seemed to be obsessed over “Unsolved murder cases” and he viewed people that get away with murder as some sort of geniuses. He called the police a “bunch of idiots”, saying that he could “give them a confession to their faces and they would still not get the hint”. He brought these things up pretty often.
I called him once and jokingly asked him if the basement is still off limits and he told me that “Nope, i burned all the evidence. You can go down there as much as you want now. It only took me 20 years”
I was caught off guard by this reply, but i simply interpreted it as a joke. I never thought much about it. I noticed that he still had the book, i asked him what it’s about and he told me that it’s about norse mythology. It was a very old book by that point, i asked him if he brought other books about it, he told me he did, but that “This one will always stay with me. The memories i had with it are unforgettable. I’m not the only one who thinks this. It’s special to me man”
These things, when separated don’t seem to mean much, at first i never thought about them. Then i learned more about the Zodiac killer, this was around 2019. Then, it all started to make sense. The symbol, the obsession with unsolved murders, the mocking of the police, the strange thing about the basement and why i was never allowed there, it all made sense.
I suspect he had the Zodiac Costume in his basement, the comment he said about burning it was likely dead serious.
This man is still out there, he is still alive to this day. Continue reading
