⚘ The beginning ⚘

The man in the picture above is Issei Sagawa. His desire to do the things that he did began with a dream. Apparently, one night Issei dreamed that he and his brother were being boiled in a pot getting ready to get eaten. After that, he began to fantasize about what it would be like to eat another human’s flesh. At a young age, he would sit in class and fantasize about biting another boy’s thigh.

These thoughts became an obsession. He never went through with his thoughts at this point but whenever he saw a woman walking the street he would wonder what it would be like to eat her. And unfortunately for European women he thought they were perfect. Thankfully, he wasn’t really able to encounter one he liked.

⚘ The break-in ⚘

One day Issei decided to follow a woman home because he wanted to eat her. He waited it out a bit and when he broke in she was asleep. He didn’t have the intent to kill her, but to only cut a piece of her flesh and take it with him. Too bad for him though because she woke up and screamed.

Now, he came from a relatively wealthy family, so when he was caught, his father paid his bail to get out. Anyways, Issei actually went to get help after this incident and confided in a psychiatrist who thought he was dangerous to society. But his father was somehow able to send him to school overseas to avoid the whole problem. Honestly, I think that was pretty stupid and this whole thing may have been prevented.

⚘ 1981 ⚘

So, in 1981 Issei began to lead a pretty normal life and studied at the University of Paris, Sorbonne. On the outside, he was just a skinny and harmless man. But what people didn’t know was that he still wanted to fulfill that fantasy he had. At this point, it was said that Issei would bring prostitutes home and did try to kill them but his hands would freeze up.

Anyways, while studying there he encountered a gorgeous Dutch student; Renee.

As you can see from the very first picture Issei wasn’t the most attractive man in the world. Many women didn’t see him as a potential lover. But according to him, he fell in love with Renee (her body) at first sight.

So, using his father’s money he pretended that his professor had instructed him to learn German and hired her as his private tutor. Issei was doing all of these things trying to get close to her and tried to make ‘sexual advances’ but he was declined by her many many times.

One of the nights she was over tutoring him he got her to read a German poem and posed as if he wanted to record her. Not suspecting anything she began to read but he had already pointed a gun behind her and shot her.

One of the things that I did find in an article is that he did consider calling the ambulance for a second. He quickly got rid of those thoughts though because he was dying to taste human flesh.

Issei began to undress her. He was obviously feeling a lot of euphorias because now she couldn’t hold him back and he could do what his heart desired after so long.

I do not want to get into every detail, so I’ll try to explain in fewer words. Issei started to try to bite into her skin but he wasn’t able to do so after a while and his jaw started to hurt. So, he used some type of knife and began to eat her.

Before he disposed of the body he did have sex with it multiple times and even had the audacity to listen to German poem recordings while doing so.

He disposed of the body in a lake and zoomed home to eat the remaining parts of her. But when he ran away, I read in an article is that someone did find the suitcase and asked him if it was his because he had been walking around the park with them but he denied it and left.

⚘ Triggering conclusion ⚘

No there are still a couple more things we need to cover, but this is sorta leading to the very triggering conclusion.

A couple of days later French police came to Issei’s apartment with a search warrant. They found some of Renee’s body parts in his freezer and in the moment he knew he was caught and didn’t deny it.

‘Because’ his crime was so horrific the judge decided that he wouldn’t be able to stand trial. Plus, nobody really thought he was ‘normal’. Due to this, he was sent to Paul Guiraud Asylum. His father though pulled some strings and was able to fly him back and “send him” to a hospital in Japan. So, his charges were dropped and he was back in Japan.

BUT the Japanese authorities weren’t able to press any charges so he stayed in the hospital for 15 months and left.

⚘ Free-man ⚘

Usually, when someone commits a crime so horrific and disgusting, you never see him/her/they/them again. But nope, not for Issei. He is a free man today. Let that shit sink in.

Not only was he free after those unjustifiable acts but he even made money from novels and comics he wrote reliving those days where he committed those crimes.

A direct quote from him is; “What I truly wished was to eat her living flesh. Nobody believes me, but my ultimate intention was to eat her, not necessarily to kill her.” This man feels no remorse for the gruesome things he did. Even satan would be disgusted.

Issei went on to be in interviews saying that he still has those desires and hopes that before he dies, he’ll be able to eat someone again. Now his type is Japanese women though.

I’m not sure but in some articles, it is said that he was given a whole new identity and some say that he is now an artist that draws naked women. Apparently, he is 71 at the moment.
