Some stories sound too bizarre to be real—until you realize they actually happened.

A few years ago, I heard a story that still haunts me to this day. It’s about a guy named Aakash, who disappeared for 15 years, only to return with no memory of where he had been. But that’s not the strangest part…

Aakash was just 21 when he vanished from his hometown. He was last seen walking home after a late-night shift. No signs of a struggle. No calls. No goodbyes. Just—gone.

His family searched for him everywhere. Police investigated but found nothing. Over time, people assumed the worst. Some believed he had been murdered; others thought he ran away. His parents, however, never gave up hope.

Then, 15 years later, something chilling happened.

One evening, his younger brother—who was just a child when Aakash disappeared—got a call from an unknown number. A weak voice on the other end whispered, “I think I’m home.”

They rushed to the location. And there he was—Aakash, standing barefoot outside his parents' old house, wearing the same clothes he had on the night he vanished. His face was gaunt, his hair overgrown, his eyes empty.

But here’s the terrifying part: Aakash had no memory of the last 15 years.

Doctors examined him—physically, he was fine. His fingerprints, his DNA—everything confirmed it was him. But he couldn't recall where he had been, how he survived, or why he hadn't aged much compared to his younger brother.

The only thing he kept saying? "I was in a dark place. I don’t know where, but I wasn’t alone."

To this day, no one knows what happened to him. Some say it was a case of amnesia. Others whisper about alien abductions, time slips, or something even more terrifying.

Joanna Szydłowska traded her bread to another prisoner for a camera. She was one of 74 Polish women subjected to cruel experiments, including unnecessary surgeries. Doctors cut open some women's legs and intentionally infected them to try to simulate battlefield wounds. Some of the women were given no medication when they became desperately ill. Ravensbrück was liberated on this day in 1945 after most prisoners had been evacuated from the camp. Some of the experimentation victims testified at trials after the war. He personally tortured members of the French resistance and was responsible for the deportation of thousands of Jews from German-occupied France. As head of a local office of the Gestapo, the Nazis' political police force, Barbie made a name for himself as the "Butcher of Lyon." In 1944, he learned that 44 Jewish children were being sheltered in a nearby village. He had the children arrested and sent them to Auschwitz. None survived. Years after the war, and after escaping to South America, Barbie was captured and tried for crimes against humanity.
