Know who he is? He was a notorious criminal and rapist who had several rape cases lodged against him. However, no action was taken as he bribed a local police station with alcohol and snacks, despite complaints against him.

However, after a brave woman dared to go after him, all the other residents in the area took matters into their hands and destroyed his house. Seeing this and realizing they’re not the same fearful people anymore, he went to that same police station begging for protection. The officers ultimately put him behind bars for that.

On 13 August 2004, Akku Yadav had a bail hearing at the Nagpur civil sessions court. As he was being taken to the courtroom, he warned each victim that he will teach them a lesson. While walking there, he mocked a victim and humiliated her, while the cops guarding him laughed. The victim, unable to sustain, took out her footwear and started beating him. Other women who were present also joined him.

In the process, chilly powder was thrown at him and the officers guarding him fled the scene. Reportedly, there were over a 100 women, and each of them vowed not to spare him, even used a knife on him. Yadav begged for forgiveness, but within 15 minutes, he died of his wounds. A few women were charged for his murder, but a retired judge Bhau Vahane, defended them, stating that law enforcement officers had failed them and they were left with no choice. In November 2014, all the women who were accused and criminally charged, were released and acquitted fully, after the judges noted the preferential treatment, alcohol in his blood report, and that the victims had repeatedly testified but police did not act.

Given the situation, this crime was morally justified. His death led to peace in the neighborhood. Victims were relieved. And most importantly, women were safer than before. Continue reading

Joanna Szydłowska traded her bread to another prisoner for a camera. She was one of 74 Polish women subjected to cruel experiments, including unnecessary surgeries. Doctors cut open some women's legs and intentionally infected them to try to simulate battlefield wounds. Some of the women were given no medication when they became desperately ill. Ravensbrück was liberated on this day in 1945 after most prisoners had been evacuated from the camp. Some of the experimentation victims testified at trials after the war. On April 9, 2018, the Miami Valley Regional Crime Laboratory announced that they had identified the woman as 21-year-old Marcia Lenore King from Little Rock, Arkansas. Marcia had last been seen by her family in 1980. Although she wasn’t officially reported missing, her family had kept searching for her. The identification was made possible by detailed DNA testing. Klaus Barbie had no regrets about sending thousands to their deaths. He personally tortured members of the French resistance and was responsible for the deportation of thousands of Jews from German-occupied France. As head of a local office of the Gestapo, the Nazis' political police force, Barbie made a name for himself as the "Butcher of Lyon." In 1944, he learned that 44 Jewish children were being sheltered in a nearby village. He had the children arrested and sent them to Auschwitz. None survived. Years after the war, and after escaping to South America, Barbie was captured and tried for crimes against humanity.
