ROOM NUMBER 636 AT THE GUNTER HOTEL
On February 6, 1965, in room number 636 at the Gunter Hotel in San Antonio, Texas, Walter A. Emerick brutally murdered a young woman. To tell the truth, the body was never found, but since then, anyone who has stayed in that room has continually relived that terrible murder.
That morning, a maid who was cleaning the rooms saw a sign on the door handle of 636 that read “DO NOT DISTURB.” The lady, however, had to clean it, since she hadn’t done so for several days, so after knocking several times without receiving an answer, she opened the door, finding herself faced with a terrible scene.
Walter Emerick was standing near the bed, he had a bag with bloody sheets sticking out of it and staring at her, he invited her to be quiet, but the terrified woman ran away screaming.
When the police arrived, the man had obviously already run away, there was a lot of blood in the room, as well as in the bathtub, which immediately made people think it was a murder, but strangely enough, no body was found.
The police hypothesized that the man, after killing the victim and cutting the body into small pieces, had ground them in a meat grinder, but this is only one of the many hypotheses put forward by investigators and that, blood aside, no other clues were found in the room.
The only certain thing is that in the previous days Emerick had always been seen in the company of a tall, blonde young woman, even though the disappearance of no woman corresponding to the description was ever reported.
The alleged murder therefore remains a mystery and the case is still open, given that Walter Emerick, tracked down in a hotel a few blocks away, shot himself to avoid arrest.
Anyway, since then strange phenomena have been happening at the Gunter Hotel and many, among employees and guests, swear to have seen the ghostly figure of a young woman in the original 636, yes, because you must know that the hotel has been renovated over the years and that on the 6th floor, where it is located, the numbers have been changed, and to date only a few people know the real room where the horrendous crime occurred.
Inside the room the ghost of the woman appears with her arms outstretched as if she were asking for help, objects move by themselves and the constant feeling of being observed accompanies the guest during their stay, but not only that, even when it is not occupied, strange noises seem to come from inside it, very similar to hammer blows or mechanics, like a meat grinder.
Finally, a mystery within a mystery, recently the hotel manager received a strange anonymous envelope by mail with the postal code used in the sixties, inside an old key, that of room 636. Continue reading
