On August 31, 1998, 14-year-old Natasha Ryan was dropped off at Rock Hampton Highschool, in Queensland, Australia, but she never came home. When her mother reported her missing the police didn't take her seriously, because she had run away just a month before and was found with her boyfriend Scott.
This time though she stayed gone and she wasn’t the only one. Other girls and women were disappearing around Rock Hampton. Then in May, 1999, a man named Lenard John Frazier, who was in prison for killing a little girl confessed to commenting more murders, including Natasha’s.
The trial in this case took a shocking turn, though, when he was found not guilty.
That’s because four and half years after Natasha’s disappearance and during the middle of her own murder trial, police found Natasha alive and well, living in her boyfriends closet the whole time.
Although he was not guilty of Natasha’s murder, Frazier was a serial killer and was still sentenced to three life terms for other murders. He died in prison in 2007. continue reading
