It was a snowy day in 1972, and Kritsonis was 22 years old. She had been waiting for a city bus to take her to school for more than an hour.
Kritsonis recalls the man saying: “I’ve driven down Rainier Avenue, and there’s no bus in sight. Do you need a ride?”
She agreed to the offer, but soon after getting into the car, she realized they were going in the wrong direction.
Kritsonis considered escaping from the car, but then she noticed that her door lacked a handle.
The driver then asked her to take off her hat. Upon doing so, he questioned, "Why did you cut your hair?" This made her suspect that the man had been observing her, as he knew about her recent haircut.
After about an hour, the man suddenly let Kritsonis out at her school, shoving her out and telling her she was fortunate.
She told her family about the incident but chose not to inform the police.
Approximately a year and a half later, while watching television, Kritsonis realized that the man who had given her a ride was the notorious serial killer Ted Bundy, who later admitted to murdering 30 women.
