Dubbed the Black Dalia of Nanjing
The police were quickly notified and a further search of the campus led to the discovery of over 2000 carefully dissected body parts. Numerous body parts and organs had been cooked for several days, including the head. However, all the critical organs were missing leading police to believe whoever committed the crime knew what they were doing and had professional knowledge anatomy, like a surgeon or even a butcher.
They were able to identify the body due to a mole on a piece of dissected meat. The body parts belong to Diao Aiqin, a student at the campus who had been missing for the fist three months of the school year, after she stormed out of her room after a row with roommates and was never seen alive again.
Diao Aiqin came from an impoverished background. She was the eldest of two children who excelled in her studies allowing her to go to Nanjing university to study computer applications at the Department of Information Management in 1995. Even though she was missing for three months before the discovery of the body parts, her family were only told a week after the gruesome discovery of the body parts.
A major investigation was commenced at the University, but they were little to no clues and the case quickly went cold. Students and faculty members were the prime focus of the investigation. Two suspect profiles were presented, including one of a single middle-aged male who was physically fit. However, the police couldn’t locate any persons that matched the profile.
The case is still open, and Nanjing police have stated that they will “never give up.” Continue reading
