a picture of a lovely couple enjoying prom

It's not creepy at all, is it? It's a picture of a lovely couple enjoying prom. But what if I told you one of them isn't alive anymore? Here's what happened.

Allen Christopher Ivanov was a 19-year-old software engineer and student who was adopted by his Russian parents at a young age.

The wealthy family had settled in Seattle, Washington. Ivanov, who attended the University of Washington; was known to be smart and sociable.

He had been dating his former classmate, Anna Bui for over a year. They were literally the ‘it' couple.

However, Ivanov realised that he wasn't interested in the relationship anymore and decided to break up with Anna who agreed, albeit suprised.

After a month or two, Ivanov started to regret leaving his ex girlfriend and wished to get back with her.

However, Anna wished otherwise and was already seeing people.

Ivanov noticed her casually moving on with her life and he wasn't happy, to say the least. In fact, he was furious.

It was almost as if something had snapped in his mind which caused him to feel unimportant.

He began to despise Anna for not taking him back.

He loathed her existence and wished she was dead. Apparently, he would talk to his friends about the various methods he could employ to kill Anna.He would constantly talk about seeking revenge. Obviously, none of his friends believed he was serious enough to do anything.

Well, they were all wrong.

On 29th July 2016, a reunion party was held at a house in the neighborhood of Mukilteo.

Ivanov, along with his friends attended the party at around 10 PM. After spending five minutes or so with his friends, Ivanov noticed Anna in the kitchen conversing happily with her friends.

He was enraged at the sight of Anna.

Ivanov immediately rushed out of the house and walked into his car.

Instead of calming himself down, he reached into his glove compartment and pulled out the manual of his new Ruger AR-15 rifle (purchased days ago), and started studying it.

Two hours later, he loaded 30 bullets into his new rifle and headed back into the house.

It was around midnight at that time and Ivanov, not wanting to make himself known, walked through the side of the house carrying his rifle.

Not long after, he was caught by one of his former classmates, Jacob (19). Ivanov tried to hide himself but to no avail.

He pointed his gun at Jacob who pleaded with him to not shoot. Jacob tried to escape but was shot thrice on his back. He died instantly.

Ivanov then walked through the garden, past his first victim when he ran into two other boys.

Now, Jorden (19) and Will (18) were held at gun point. Ivanov shot Will, who sustained a bullet wound and managed to escape. However, his friend Jorden, who was also shot, succumbed to his injuries.

After shooting his second victim, Ivanov walked into the house and went right inside the kitchen to where Anna was seated.

At point blank range, he shot her multiple times. Anna died instantly. At this point, the others panicked and there was chaos everywhere.

They hid themselves inside bathrooms and closets and then informed their families and the police.

Ivanov, still carrying his rifle, headed upstairs to the master bedroom, walked towards the balcony and simply started shooting at the garden beneath.

Fortunately, the people in the garden managed to escape although one of them was slightly wounded by the gunshot.

After proceeding to shoot aimlessly, Ivanov had run out of bullets and decided to flee the house.

When the police had arrived at the scene, Ivanov had driven away.

After 90 minutes, the police were able to locate Ivanov who had already driven a hundred miles.

They immediately arrested him and seized his ammunition.

Throughout the investigation, he remained cooperative. However, he kept insisting that he wasn't at fault.

When the police looked through his phone, they found messages from before the shooting where Ivonov would sign himself as

‘Allan Ivanov — Future shooter’.

When he was questioned about it by his friends, he would reply saying that he wished to seek revenge.

Ivanov had also created social media accounts. His first tweet read:

‘First and last tweet. Been through it all'.

His very first post on Instagram was that of his new rifle with the caption ‘You cannot run with me.’

Through his phone records, it was clear that he had planned everything beforehand.

He admitted to killing three people, albeit reluctantly. Ivanov was charged with three counts of aggravated first degree murder, one count of first degree attempted murder, and one count of first degree assault.

Weirdly enough, he pleaded not guilty to any of these charges despite confessing about the murder himself.

His defence attorney stated that it was the gun store's fault for illegally selling him the gun.

Eventually, Ivanov plead guilty to all the charges in order to avoid a possible death sentence.

According to some sources, Ivanov told the victim's family that ‘Anna visits him in his dreams every night’ before being sentenced:

On January 12th 2017, Allen Ivanov was sentenced to life in prison without any chance for parole.

But no retribution would revive the victims.

Ivanov let his ego get the best of him and killed three innocent people.

Looking at his pictures from the past definitely sends chills down my spine:

May all the victims rest in peace. Continue reading

A group of prisoners documented the medical experimentations that German doctors were performing on them.

This photo was taken secretly inside the Ravensbrück concentration camp. A group of prisoners documented the medical experimentations that German doctors were performing on them. Joanna Szydłowska traded her bread to another prisoner for a camera. She was one of 74 Polish women subjected to cruel experiments, including unnecessary surgeries.  Doctors cut open some women's legs and intentionally infected them to try to simulate battlefield wounds. Some of the women were given no medication when they became desperately ill. Ravensbrück was liberated on this day in 1945 after most prisoners had been evacuated from the camp. Some of the experimentation victims testified at trials after the war. The photos they took were part of the evidence. Continue reading  #OTD #OnThisDayinHistory #Holocaust

In the fall of 1944, ten-year-old Thomas Buergenthal found himself all alone in Auschwitz, destined for the gas chamber

In the fall of 1944, ten-year-old Thomas Buergenthal found himself all alone in Auschwitz, destined for the gas chamber. Thomas had already survived the Kielce ghetto and a forced labor camp by the time German authorities deported him and his parents to Auschwitz in August 1944. Typically, children were taken on arrival and murdered in the gas chambers, but, because there was no selection when Thomas and his family arrived there, he managed to survive. His mother was taken to the women's section of the camp, but Thomas and his father remained together. However, Thomas remained in grave danger. The SS guards regularly selected prisoners to be murdered in the gas chambers and as a child Thomas stood out. While he had survived a number of selections by hiding, this time, Thomas had been caught. "They saw me as a child, and they motioned me to go one way, and my father go the other way," Thomas remembered. "And that's the last I saw of ... my father." Thomas and...

“In Auschwitz, I never cried, and people around me never cried.”

“In Auschwitz, I never cried, and people around me never cried.” Irene Weiss was just a teenager when she learned to turn off her feelings in order to survive. When a Nazi officer selected Irene to perform forced labor at Auschwitz-Birkenau, it gave her a chance to survive that was denied to her mother and younger siblings, who were murdered upon arrival. She was assigned to a unit responsible for sorting through the stolen personal belongings of Jews. The storage barracks where she worked were next to one of Auschwitz's gas chambers. Irene often saw the faces of those unknowingly headed toward their deaths. Sometimes they would stop and talk to her. Other times, she heard their screams. “When we worked night shifts … this place was close enough to the train platform that you could hear in the night the whistle of the train and then you would hear the humming noise of large crowds. You could hear people in the distance. Within a few minutes or so the large column of young women, mo...
