In August of 2016, 22-year-old Jasmine Richardson was set free from a Canadian prison, 10 years after her and her ex-boyfriend's convictions. In 2006, then-12-year-old Richardson and her boyfriend, Jeremy Steinke, murdered Richardson’s family - her parents and younger brother - in cold blood. The crimes took place in the Richardson family's home in Medicine Hat, Alberta.

In the months leading up to the murders, the pre-teen reportedly had made a quick transition from a bright and happy girl to dark and morbid. Authorities claimed that this transition was a result of 23-year-old Steinke’s influence. Steinke, in fact, believed himself to be a 300-year-old werewolf.

Three members of the Richardson family were murdered in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada in April 2006. The murders were planned and committed by the family's 12-year-old daughter Jasmine Richardson and her 23-year-old boyfriend Jeremy Steinke, now going by the name Jackson May. Richardson and Steinke were each convicted on three counts of first-degree murder. Richardson, who had turned 13 before being convicted, is thought to be the youngest person in Canada ever convicted of multiple first-degree murder counts. Her 10-year sentence was completed on May 6, 2016

At 1:00 p.m. on April 23, 2006, the bodies of 42-year-old Marc Richardson and his 48-year-old wife Debra were found in the basement of their home and the body of their 8-year-old son Tyler Jacob was discovered upstairs. Absent from the home at that time was the couple's 12-year-old daughter Jasmine.

For a time it was feared that she might have also been a victim, but she was arrested the following day in the community of Leader, Saskatchewan, about 130 kilometres (81 mi) away, with her 23-year-old boyfriend Jeremy Allan Steinke. Both were charged with the three murders. Later, on May 3, 2006, Steinke's friend Kacy Lancaster, 19, was charged with being an accessory for driving them away in her pickup truck later in the day and for disposing of evidence

Joanna Szydłowska traded her bread to another prisoner for a camera. She was one of 74 Polish women subjected to cruel experiments, including unnecessary surgeries. Doctors cut open some women's legs and intentionally infected them to try to simulate battlefield wounds. Some of the women were given no medication when they became desperately ill. Ravensbrück was liberated on this day in 1945 after most prisoners had been evacuated from the camp. Some of the experimentation victims testified at trials after the war.
