Late in the night on Sunday, June 16, 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray sneaked out of her home in north Houston, Texas, to go to a convenience store. On her way, she encountered two men who appeared to have been lost and were looking for a direction.
The men followed her around and managed to lure her under a bridge not far from her home, and brutally tortured her.
Early in the morning on June 17, a woman was driving home when she sighted what she thought was a mannequin in a creek off West Ranking Road, Houston. When she looked close, she saw it was a body. Jocelyn had her hands and feet bound, was nüde from the waist down, and had marks on her neck, and scrapes on her backside consistent with being dragged. An autopsy determined that she dîed from being strângled.
After the horrific discovery, investigators released the CCTV footage that showed Jocelyn being followed by the men. They were later identified as Franklin Peña, 26, and Johan Jose, 22, two Venezuelans who were in the country illegally.
Investigators used surveillance cameras to track their before and after Jocelyn was strângled and dumped in the creek. Continue reading
