The death penalty for minors.
The death penalty for minors.
Until a few years ago there were 10 countries that had this law in force:
China, Democratic Republic of Congo, Iran, Pakistan, Somalia, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, United States, and Yemen.
However, except Iran and Sudan, all others have already abolished the law, including Saudi Arabia, which just announced its abolition yesterday.
Why do I say this law is terrible?
Under this law, minors accused of a crime they barely knew was lethal under their law are being killed. Now executed, they will have to leave this world. Considering that, if they grow up well, they could eventually become some of the nation's best, a benefit to their families and their countries.
I believe children are born simple, between good and evil, except in very rare cases, some are already born bad. They should be educated, trained, and guided by their parents. They deserve it from their parents and from society.
But they drift away, undeservedly , when their parents are not present or do not care for them adequately and when the social safety net does not protect them.
