A law office in south Germany started experiencing something strange, something science couldn't explain. Every now and then, the file cabinets would open up on their own, without anyone touching them. Other times, the telephones logged hundreds of calls that no one ever dialed. Even the light bulbs burned out or exploded within hours of being replaced.
Seeing the bizzare phenomenon unfold, the lawyer, Sigmund Adam called in an electrician and telephone technicians to check the electrical and telephone wiring, but nothing problematic was ever found and the odd events kept happening.
Perplexed by the situation, he escalated the problem to Siemens and then to the physicists from Max Planck Institute. They soon began investigating and installed recording and monitoring devices inside the office.
What they found was something even they couldn't explain at first. Every disturbance seemed to occur whenever the 19 year old secretary Annemarie Schaberl was present in the room. However, she was just there, not physically manipulating anything.
The physicists checked the pattern numerous times and once it was confirmed, the press labelled the secretary as “the girl who broke physics”.
Famous parapsychologist Hans Bender called it a classic case of unconscious telekinesis triggered by the secretary's emotional distress. He explained that she wasn't doing this on purpose but the physical disturbances were happening due to her subconscious energy release.
Many people didn't agree with his theory and an investigating physicist even argued that some electrical disturbances could have been faked. However, no fraud was ever proven on technical equipment or the recorded video and it remains as one of the wildest true cases from history.
